Leather Bracelets the Latest in Men’s Jewelry

The amount and types of jewelry the average male is willing to sport has increased tremendously in the last couple of decades. There was a time not so long ago that the only adornment a man would consent to wear was his wedding ring. And yet, this was not always the case. History shows us that men were as interested in bling as any rap star in the past.

Men's Leather Bracelets

The Pharaohs of Egypt were believed to have covered their entire body with a fine coating of gold dust so as to appear like living gods to the people, the treasures of the Moghul kings of India awed the visiting European travelers in the 16th century and both men and women wore fantastically expensive and highly colorful and intricate jewelry, including earrings and necklaces, at the 17th and 18th century European courts. Even as late as the Victorian Era, men continued to sport heavy signet rings and ornate pocket watches.

However, the 20th century saw a steady decline in the popularity of men’s jewelry and wearing anything other than one’s wedding ring came to be seen as far from masculine. Men’s jewelry(In Danish Mænds Smykker) was thus in absence till the 1960s when the flower power generation once again revived the concept.

This was also the first time that both men and women started sporting bracelets made of natural materials like leather, hemp etc. Many of these early bracelets also sported bead work and even today, there are some lovely beaded leather bracelets(In Danish læder Armbånd) for men that can be highly attractive on those with the confidence to carry of the look.

If this is the first time you are experimenting with these bracelets then I would definitely advise starting with something simple. A dark leather bracelet, braided or studded, can add a definite cachet to your casual wear. Pair it with loafers, chinos and a cotton or linen shirt and you’ll definitely attract some positive attention.

However, as always, your fashion choices should be dictated by comfort and situational etiquette. Sporting even the most fashionable jewelry can only backfire if it is inappropriate to the setting; say for example, a formal job interview or an important meeting with a client (unless of course either or both of you are from the fashion or entertainment industries). Finally, whatever look you choose, remember to have fun with it.
